What is a step-thru electric bike?
Different from step-over bikes, there is no top tube on the frame of a step-through bike. Therefore, it allows people to get on and off the bike in an easy and convenient way.
Is the Ranger step-through bike good for commuting?
Why not? The Ranger is convenient and comfortable to ride. Its battery could cover a common commute range. Its fat tire could handle all kinds of road conditions. And also, it is foldable as long as you need it.
Are step-through bikes heavier than step-over bikes?
A step-through bike may not be heavier than a step-through bike. How heavy is a bike depends on how the bike was designed. It does not depend on it is a step-through or a step-over bike.

We ordered two Rangers and received them very quickly.
Assembly was fairly easy. We rode for 16 miles today and it was really enjoyable. We live in a very hilly area and they did great with the steep incline. I think we are really going to enjoy them.

I use this bike for commuting and shopping. It saves time and is environmentally friendly. It's worth having.

Ordered my Ranger at the end of October and it was delivered November 3rd. Easy assembly; most difficult step is mounting the front wheel assembly to the suspension fork. A helper makes this step much easier.
Weather permitting, I ride every day; 3 to 4 rounds of golf each week and local municipal trail and bike paths or neighborhood errands otherwise.
Heybike support has been excellent; had a couple of minor issues that required their assistance. Very responsive regarding email correspondence and getting me the items I needed.
I cannot provide any comparison between my Heybike Ranger and other brands with a similar platform as the Ranger is the only ebike I've ridden and owned. At this point I'm very pleased with my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend the Ranger or even buy this bike again. Two is better than one, right?

I assembled the Ranger myself by following the video, then watched another video to show me how to personalize my pedal assist (I changed it from 1-3 to 0-5 and lowered the speeds of 1-3 so I didn’t take off like a bullet as soon as I started pedaling. I took it on my first ride today. 8.3 miles, six of those on the beach. I really didn’t need to have it over level one, but I tried all and it went up to 28 mph (what a rush). I chose the Ranger instead of the Mars because it has the step-through and I’m so glad I did. I’m 5’1” and it’s pretty big. I am in love!
I also was very happy with customer service. They were prompt and very helpful.
