Hiking with her grandparents in places like the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and Guadalupe Mountains National Park instilled a profound appreciation for the beauty and mysteries of the natural world. "I would sit for hours with my grandfather looking at the stars, and we'd talk about the mysteries of the universe," she recalled.
However, as life progressed, the demands of work and family took precedence, and her outdoor adventures became less frequent. Asthma further complicated matters, making strenuous hikes and bike rides a daunting prospect. The once-vibrant connection to nature began to fade, replaced by the routines of daily life.
Rekindle the Flame: Shared Passion with Laura
Jennifer met Laura online on the very last day both were about to give up on dating apps. Their bond grew stronger with every outdoor adventure they shared. From the lush beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway to the rugged grandeur of the Southwest, they found connection in the landscapes—and with each other. But it wasn’t until they started riding together on the Heybike ALPHA that they truly felt part of nature. “Being in the open air makes you feel connected,” Jennifer says. “You’re not scaring off animals with a car engine. You’re present. You’re part of it.”

"Add to this my asthma," Jennifer explained, "and that extra torque means the difference between getting up the hill easily or wheezing my way up and needing an inhaler break."
